Full-Time Human Resources Employment Intern
The Human Resources Employment Intern is a critical member of the BYU-Idaho Human Resources team. Under the direction of the Employment Specialist, this position oversees the overall process of staff and administrative employment at the University. This includes working with departments to determine job openings, creating job postings, advertising positions, screening applicants, coordinating and facilitating interviews, and ensuring successful hires and onboarding processes. The position works closely with departments across campus to ensure that employment needs are met and that hiring processes are handled according to University policy and federal employment regulations.
This position requires a two semester minimum commitment. The first semester consists of a part-time “pre-internship” position, during which the selected candidate will be trained and oriented to Human Resources and employment policies and procedures. The semester immediately following the “pre-internship” consists of the full-time internship, where the selected candidate will take the lead on the activities outlined above for various open positions across campus. Because of this structure, preference will be given to candidates who are willing to work part-time during the first semester they are hired, and who are off-track and/or available to work full time (40 hours/week) during the following semester.
This position requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and proven people skills. Applicants must be able to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment. Prior experience in human resources, communications, or business management is preferred.
